New miniature production method and news

From tomorrow onwards, Punkapocalyptic will enter a new era by producing its own miniatures.

Until now, 3D production focused on manufacturing rather than master creation did not provide sufficient quality. However, technology has advanced, and prices have dropped to such an extent that after several tests, we have decided to take the plunge.

Advantages for you

  • No burrs or mold lines. Since they are not produced in molds, you will no longer have to remove burrs or resin pieces needed for the sprues, nor will you have the annoying mold lines derived from the two pieces of the molds.
  • Master quality. In the previous resin or Siocast production, miniatures were modeled in 3D, and a high-quality master print was made, from which copies would then be produced in mold production. Therefore, all copies were derived from the quality of that master. Now you will directly acquire miniatures that are like the original masters in terms of print quality.
  • Fewer pieces and perfect joins. Most miniature assemblies are due to the fact that certain parts cannot protrude when making molds, so they must be cut in different places. Printed miniatures will have many fewer pieces, with many of them being a single piece, so it’s just a matter of attaching them to the base and painting them.
  • Allows any type of shape in modeling and more dynamism. When making molds, certain factors had to be considered, such as not leaving gaps and having to seal them, ensuring that certain parts did not protrude and could damage the mold, etc. All of that no longer exists, and now miniatures will only be limited by our imagination when thinking about the models.
  • Material with flexibility to prevent breakage as much as possible. We have experimented with various types of resin to ensure that the miniatures have some flexibility and are therefore less prone to breaking in case of a fall, etc.
More competitive prices. Depending on ourselves allows us to adjust prices more and make the miniatures more affordable for you.

Advantages for us

  • In-house production without depending on third parties. Obviously, now we only depend on ourselves, making it easier for us to adjust everything to our liking.
  • Improved times between modeling and the mini being released for sale. This system allows us to release a miniature for sale almost immediately after it is modeled, without having to wait months for physical copies, with the only delay being the painting for packaging, etc.
  • Possibility of releasing more and more varied minis. Not needing to produce large production runs for it to be profitable and depending on ourselves allows us to release a greater variety of miniatures and make riskier bets.
  • Automatic stock replenishment. With the new production, as soon as we run out of stock of a miniature, we can have new copies immediately, so you won’t have to wait as before for us to replenish stock.
  • Ability to correct errors and rescale minis. Making molds was more costly, and once made, it was difficult to correct a miniature since that meant having to make the molds again, etc. Now, however, we can correct anything in a miniature immediately, and the next units will come out with the changes.

News

And when will we start seeing these innovations? Well, from tomorrow on.

The two miniatures on the left, a new Klown for the Troupe faction and the High Inquisitor for the Atomic Inquisition subfaction of the Irradiated, are already produced by us in high-definition 3D printing. The miniature on the right is a new addition to the Masters of the Wasteland, which had not yet been released for sale since its Kickstarter campaign.
